Oh my gosh, no column has ever been so accurate! In all of the group pics with my senior sisters, you can very clearly pick me out of the group because I’m practically translucent. I’ve also probably blinded at least twelve people with my legs. I advise wearing sunglasses around me at all times for your protection.
This was a hazing incident and it’s BS that both you and the anonymous tipster are attempting to excuse and justify this incident and behavior. In regards to Anon complaining about the campus newspaper, there is literally nothing they can do about it. The newspaper has free speech and has a right to publish any information given to them by all parties, including campus administration. Should they have published member’s names and that picture? No, that probably wasn’t the best decision and they should retract that. But it’s BS that Anon says that the article is inappropriate because it’ll hinder future job searches because those members did that to themselves by participating in hazing activities.
Hazing of any form, no matter how “fun” it may be considered by the members, is inexcusable and it makes ALL of that international chapter look bad (including the involved fraternities, which should be punished more appropriately and at the same level that Alpha Phi was punished).
While I feel sympathy for her (ouch!), she shouldn’t be suing her sisters for an accident that wasn’t their fault. I fell down the back steps of my sorority house last fall and I now have a chronic knee condition that I’ll probably never get rid of and might have to have surgery to correct when I’m older. (For the record, I was totally sober but I’m a total klutz regardless)
I would NEVER sue my sisters or make their insurance pay for it or file a claim against them because they are my SISTERS. In my eyes, her suing her chapter is a huge act of betrayal and I wouldn’t forgive her.

Like, half this column isn’t even factual about Chico or Chico State…
But Chico State’s not even really a party school anymore. I have a suspicious feeling that she doesn’t even go here.
