You’re leaving a lot of variables out in your analysis. If all you can give out is a 1 perspective analysis on why our generation is screwed, I will not be surprised if you will have a hard time finding a job that utilizes you major. Minimum wage has nothing to do with why the post war economy did well in the United States- if the middle class grew in the US do you think they were jobs that were supported by minimum wage? The cost of education rises because state funding reductions and also supply and demand. I bet you 100% that there are more college students now than there were 1965 which would translate to less buildings, less staff, etc.

    1) The baby boomer generation is not retiring because they realized that they did not save enough money for retirement.
    2) There are more college graduates now than ever, which depreciates the value of a degree (you should know this, I am surprised you did not mention it) … South Korea can be looked at as an extreme case for this.
    3) Manufacturing has died in the United States (Reason #1 why the US economy expanded from the 50s to 70s). I don’t care that we still make cars and planes, a lot of things are machine made which increases profits. The self proclaimed return of manufacturing to the US is a farce as these factories will become highly automated.
    4) Skill mismatch between what employers need vs what the labor market provides.
    5) Our generation has an entitlement mindset/superiority complex. “I deserve this because I’m a human, I deserve that because I’m human.” Your comment reeks of this when you say that our generation is more ‘environmentally conscious’ or that we’re the most “charitable and politically willing to boycott brands”.. No one cares. It doesn’t help you land a job it just makes YOU feel better because you can’t find a job.
