I loved the original article. You think she sounds “uninformed” but ask someone random on your campus about the economy, politics, or the environment (someone without a major in these areas). They’ll probably have nothing to say and think it’s weird you’re asking in the first place. I hear my parents talking about these things and all I can think is, “How do they know all this stuff? Should I care about these things? Yay! Another margarita.” At least that’s how my thoughts usually seem to go. I’m impressed with people like you.

“I know there are the geniuses and go-getters of our generation who are out making big things happen all over the map.”

You’re in the minority. Two jobs and two internships? That’s impressive and you shouldn’t have to worry about getting a job after graduation. The majority of college students these days are much more concerned with partying (me) than school or making themselves desirable for future employers. Most of us need an ass-kicking (I do), but it doesn’t sound like you do.

Also, thank God college isn’t that cheap. College should be an investment for people who understand that a good education costs money. If everyone could afford to go to great schools, they would. Getting a job, as well as getting accepted to these great schools, would be even more difficult.

Please Note* – My school is $47,000 a year, but I can’t really comment on the awfulness of loans because I don’t have any (TFundBaby). I’m an accounting/finance/business major and get As and Bs but I don’t necessarily keep up with current events. Also, I don’t think we should party less, maybe just put the same amount of effort we put into planning parties and mixers into school and being informed.
