The greatest thing about celebrity feuds is that even though you know no party involved, you feel like you are in the ring with them. You pick sides, you tweet your input that they’ll never read, and you rejoice in your victim’s defeat. 2016 was epic for celebrity feuds. Here are the biggest celeb fights of the year.
Kimye v. Taylor Swift
The celeb feud of my lifetime, to be honest. If you lived under a rock and missed it, Kimye totally exposed Swifty for being the dramatic lil’ white girl that she is. Taylor threw a pity party about Kanye’s lyrics about her in his song “Famous.” If you lived under two rocks and have never heard the song, the lyrics go like this, “I bet me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that bitch famous.” When she played the victim card yet again, Kim pulled out all the stops for her man, exposing Taylor’s consent of the lyrics on Snapchat, and nothing was ever the same. I honestly still haven’t recovered, and I don’t think Taylor has either because she’s come out with ONE song since then.
Beyoncé’s “Bee Hive” v. Rachel Roy/Ray
Lemonade took the world by storm. And who could ever forget “Becky with the good hair.” If Lemonade taught us one thing, it is that no one cheats on Beyoncé without getting stung. Multiple times. By deadly venomous bees. Loyal fans to Beyoncé trolled Rachel Roy after she incriminated herself with the Instagram post captioning, “Good hair, don’t care.” Shut the fuck up Rachel, no one even knows who you are, still. People even thought “Becky” was Rachel Ray. Yes. The cook with the television show. That’s how irrelevant Rachel Roy is. And poor Rachel Ray was getting death threats when all she wanted to do was make some chicken picatta.
Blac Chyna v. All Kardashians
When they said “you can’t turn a hoe into a housewife,” they were actually just predicting Blac Chyna. The feud started when Chyna started dating Rob Kardashian, as we all know, she only did this to get back at Kylie and Tyga. Shit has hit the fan multiple times since then. The latest blow to the Kardashian clan? A hacked Chyna Instagram account, with screenshots from her phone saying she was using Rob to trademark the Kardashian name. She then stole the love child they had together after two weeks of knowing each other and left Rob high and dry for the holiday’s. He was recently hospitalized.
Taylor Swift v. Calvin Harris
Breakups and makeups. The Taylor Swift specialty. And this one was so messy I loved every second of it. The climax of the breakup was when Calvin went on a Twitter rant, calling Taylor out for some miscommunication about their song “This Is What You Came For.” Swift already had another *eye roll* boyfriend at this point, so Calvin so kindly pointed out via Twitter, “I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do.” As if that wasn’t enough gold for our Twitter feeds, he continued, “I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy [Perry] ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it. Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one. God bless everyone have a beautiful day.” Beautiful. Truly beautiful. And Taylor and Tom broke up in like three months, so Calvin wins.
Donald Trump v. Hillary Clinton
I understand they are not “celebrities,” but you can’t help to throw the political candidates in the mix. It was months of mud slinging, dirty campaigns, and sabotage. My favorite kind of reality show. Regardless of the outcome of this election, America was in trouble.
Demi Lovato v. Taylor Swift
“Body Shaming” was a huge deal in 2016. Demi Lovato is known to voice her opinions, so when she “body shamed” Taylor and her girl squad, things got ugly. Demi made a good point, saying that all of Taylor’s friends had the same exact body type, but like, who the fuck cares?
Angelina Jolie v. Brad Pitt
Divorce is pretty much always messy, and this was bound to get interesting seeing as the two have 106 kids together. There were a lot of allegations that there was some child abuse coming from Brad’s camp, which I can only imagine came from a scorned woman. Maybe a future ex-wife. Who knows? Anyway, that argument didn’t stand up in court and it appears they have not settled yet. Bet the holidays were extra fun this year.
So there you have it, a trip down Drama Fest Lane. If there was a common theme of 2016, it was that Taylor Swift causes 50% of Hollywood Drama..
