The End-All Be-All “American Horror Story” Recap To Prep For The Start Of Season 7

American Horror Story: Cult (Season 7)

What we know:

On October 4, 2016, the series was renewed for a seventh season, which is set to premiere on September 5, 2017.[9][13][14] Ryan Murphy confirmed that the season will be connected to Freak Show, but will be set in modern day.[15] In February 2017, on Watch What Happens Live, Murphy announced that the season would revolve around the 2016 U.S. election and suggested that it may feature a character based on President Donald Trump.[16] In an April 2017 interview, Murphy stated that there would be no actors playing Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, though both would be seen onscreen.[17] Murphy has said that the season will be representative of both sides of the political divide; however, the writer says he will be “illuminating and highlighting” groups of people he believes to be “ignored by the current [Trump] administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away.”[18]

Veteran cast members Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Emma Roberts and Chaz Bono are scheduled to return for the forthcoming season. Joining them are new cast members Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Colton Haynes, Alison Pill, and Lena Dunham.

Best Things About Season 7:
The title sequence is back THANK GOD.
• And Even Peters is back. Again, thank God.
• Emma Roberts is also back and like, those two dated forever IRL. Are they back together? How dramatic was filming? Something about exes working together really just gets me going.
• It’s about the election, which as we all know, was the *true* American Horror Story.
• Cults, like covens, could actually be a pretty sexy season. Fucked up, sure. But sexy nevertheless.

Worst Things About Season 7:
• That. fucking. clown. is coming back. You know the one.
• Actually, it looks like there’s a lot of clown shit in there, which is never a good time for anyone.
Lena Dunham is making an appearance.. Which will be uh, interesting.
• Katy Bates and Jessica Lange aren’t in it, which is horrifying in itself.
• Politics has been a pretty fun topic on social media for the past year. Having our favorite show centered around it is suuuure to be enjoyable and lighthearted, right?

“American Horror Story: Cult” premieres tonight, September 5 at 10 p.m. EST on FX. Because, yes. It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year! See you there, witches.
