Please go back and reread her comment it says DEPICTS. This is the exact cartoon they used on advertisements for slavery, segregation, and whatever else during that period of time. Do I think it is getting blown out of proportion because people are calling it racist? Totally. It is truley just stereotyping but when targeting a large group with a “cartoon” of an African American man eating watermelon in a state known for slavery on a (i hate to say it) white majority organizations tshirt…Things do start to get sticky. When I first joined my sorority the girl who is now my big had been suffering from bulimia for years off and on. My grandbig and twin tried to hide it from me but it was pretty obvious something was going on. It soon lead to late night calls that she couldn’t breathe, she was throwing up blood, trips to the hospital, sobbing sessions in public restrooms because we knew she was going in their to puke.
