Because abstinence-only sex education has been proven time and again to be a lot more harmful than all-inclusive. In Texas, it’s a state law that schools only teach abstinence-only which is so asinine. Obviously we want to be teaching students that yes, abstinence is perfectly fine, but by no means is it the ONLY answer. That’s how you end up with teen pregnancy and, shocker, situations like this.
This actually made my physically ill. My heart is hurting so much for this poor girl’s family, friends, sisters, classmates, and all who knew her. I hate knowing there are such sick individuals in this world who rob people of their lives for whatever fucked up reason. I can’t even imagine what everyone at IU is feeling right now. All of my love and thoughts to you guys. This is heartbreaking.
I’m so pissed that she apologized to literally everyone BUT the fraternity. Fuck that woman. She slandered their name with her ridiculously inaccurate reporting and bullshit story. And I’m sorry, but “Jackie” needs to be held accountable too. Her story is so flawed and goes way beyond the normal discrepancies found in people who have suffered a traumatic event. I hope they drain Rolling Stone for every fucking penny.
Eh, I don’t think so. On tons of campuses we’re known as Tri Delts, I refer to myself as a Tri Delt in spoken or written words, and haven’t really thought twice about it. It’s not really offensive or mean, it’s another name for us.
Just because it isn’t being sold through the Lilly site or a Lilly store doesn’t make it “not the real stuff.” I never understood why people have a problem with this…?
“Colored” refers back to the term that was widely used during segregation and Jim Crow laws. It was used only for black people. Person of Color, however, encompasses any race that is not white, and refers to groups commonly subject to racism.
Oh stop. You clearly didn’t read the article or watch his interview. He’s saying that fraternities need to get back to their roots- when they were about building leaders and scholars- not breeding hateful, racist men. The former is what produces great men, not the latter. He has an excellent point.
If you’re going to write an article about an issue of this severity can you not make a joke out of it? The last few weeks have been a shit storm for Greek life and while we all know that the majority of chapters are good and not absolute fuck heads, it is now painfully apparent that we have some really disgusting, racist, pathetic excuses for people in our Greek system. By writing an article and comparing a book that has disguising comments and outright racism in it to the burn book is just ridiculous. This is part of the reason everyone wants to turn a blind eye to racism that clearly exists- because nobody takes it seriously. My sisters who aren’t white shouldn’t have to keep feeling uncomfortable in my chapter and yet they do feel that way. I’m sick of it.
Except for the fact that you should probably watch the video again because NOWHERE in that video does he say “fuck you white motherfuckers.” Stop trying to spread false information, especially about a topic as serious as this one. He clearly is going off on SAE and calling them hypocrites because they’re the guys who will shake the black football player’s hands after they win, yet still can’t see them as real people.
Nor do I care what school you attend. My point is that what you’re claiming to be racism isn’t, in fact, racism. Just because the thought of it is “laughable” doesn’t mean it proves a damn thing. I’m not sure how you can sit here and say that it has gone both ways when there are glaring issues with Panhellenic sororities not accepting minority members and none with a multicultural sorority denying membership.
Additionally, the fact that there are no white members in any multicultural sorority at your school only further proves my point. NPC sororities were all but built for white women. There’s already an accepting play for them to be.
I’m sorry, but no. No no no no. I really wish people would take a Difference, Power, and Discrimination class before they comment. Multi-cultural sororities are NOT exclusive to that culture. Anyone is welcome to join. You would be very hard pressed to find one that doesn’t allow someone because they aren’t a certain race.
Secondly, the reason multi cultural sororities exist is to include minorities who were traditionally left out of the Panhellenic sororities. Same goes for why clubs such as the black or Asian student union exists. They, too, welcome all people regardless of race. That is NOT segregation. Why people think it is is beyond me. Nobody is ignoring anything or turning a cheek “because you’re white.” It’s not the same level at all.
Panhellenic sororities are traditionally white, and while that has obviously changed over time, you absolutely cannot deny that there is still a huge problem with racism, which is blatantly displayed by the sororities at the University of Alabama and other schools.

What’s weird is I’ve heard of someone actually doing this to a poor girl and the judge was on her exes side!! How bitter do you have to be?!

This girl has got some serious balls and I love it. Delta Love a million times over for this one!

Considering the fact that TKE is, you’re wrong.

Dare I say it, but a lot of this stuff is even cuter than Lilly’s normal collection! I’m glad Target is carrying the line!
Scoring higher on tests and getting better GPA’s doesn’t mean squat if women aren’t then choosing to pursue those fields of work.

Food for thought.
Holy shit it’s 2015 can we not use the term “colored people?” Jesus.

Uh how is this a TSM? You’re an ungrateful brat. NS.
No way that guy should be #1- especially not over the Notre Dame player!!!

If that’s the case, then you should do something about your user name, as you are perpetuating the “dumb blonde” stereotype right now.
