It seems like she’s more annoyed with being reprimanded by women who aren’t actually any better, but have those powers based on the position they hold in the chapter, than actually being called to standards. It’s the same way I felt when my scholarship meeting was led by the scholarship chair who was a Chinese major and I’m a mechanical engineer. Could my grades have been better? Absolutely, but I didn’t need someone who didn’t just take an 18 credit semester with three labs telling me that.
You have to be born in the right year to have more than one chance; gymnasts have to be at least 16 in the year of the olympics to compete. Once you slow down enough to go through puberty (often delayed in highly competitive athletes), your hips open up (yay babies) and center of gravity gets fucked up, making gymnastics harder in your 20s
JK Rowling has said herself that “Cursed Child” is not a prequel, and if you’re a real Harry Potter fan you should know this. Fantastically Beasts is in fact an prequel by definition as the story focuses on events that occur before the “Harry Potter” narrative
Some people just prefer going straight for dessert. You’re clearly not one of them. And sex on the first date doesn’t mean you have no respect for yourself. It means you enjoy having sex
“I should say absolutely nothing.” But why wouldn’t you say something? I agree you don’t need to pitch a fit but there’s no reason not to stand up for yourself. By not saying anything you’re making the situation that much worse/annoying for the next woman who walks through the door
I hate to be a buzzkill but this scene is included in the double trouble edition of the dvd (which also includes the original and the sequel to the original). But I only know this because I was forbidden from renting the moving (and therefore bought the double trouble edition) after I learned every single line by age 10 so maybe that says something about me…
*snaps* Substitute rehearsals for labs or student teaching and performances for open presentations or a field trip and this covers most majors. Respect your sisters’ majors ladies, chances are that’s what developed them into the woman (and young lady you recruited) they are today.
I think you’re forgetting that when pnms are ranking chapters for themselves that they’re usually using their own tier system. Yes, they will be influenced by whatever tier system is present at their school but many of them see “bottom houses” very different from another pnm. When I was a Rho Gamma, I saw women crying about getting dropped from all different chapter because they thought they would not fit in any other chapter. Ranking chapters is just as hard on pnms as ranking pnms for your chapter. We make it sound nice by calling it a “mutual selection process” but it’s still the same horrible ranking process on both sides, and the pnms often feel that there is a lot more at stake for then since they are one out of 200-1000+ women. Hardly any blame should be left on the pnm (unless they dislike a chapter based on a reputation without giving the chapter a chance which is not what seemed to happene in this case.)
THANK YOU. I got so much crap for complaining about my difficult engineering classes (even though I truly loved them) but all the hard work has really paid off. And with my salary, I can afford to continue pursuing hobbies- the same ones I could have chosen to major in. I’d say I have the best of both worlds but I’m sure some of y’all will think I’m a snotty bitch
If you are only learning from your chapter at a weekly meeting, you obviously are not taking advantage of your membership. As a chapter in my national sorority, every email sent through our system was copied to our district advisor as well as the international president. If our emails were not written professionally, our HQ would not deem us fit to run our own chapter. As self-governing organizations it is imperative that we are able to communicate online, which includes emails, Facebook statues from the organization page, and commenting on articles in any online forum. So yes, it is important to use correct grammar even if you are not in a classroom setting.
There are a lot of reasons women in national organizations can’t get jobs by networking with their alumnae. Maybe there isn’t a local alumnae chapter where there school is located. Maybe (like in my situation) they studied engineering or were part of another program with a very low percentage of women and there just aren’t alumnae they know who can help.
The president of a national chapter will develop a lot of the professional experience in just a one year term many prospective employers are looking for. This includes working on cross-functional teams, collaborating with different groups or departments in a company, or even groups or teams not related to the company.
Being in a national sorority has also reinforced the need to use correct grammar and punctuation. This relates to being able to clearly and effectively explain your ideas and thoughts to others, something your chapter obviously does not place a value upon.
Confused by the lack of Sauvignon blanc on this list
This is also called growing older

We prefer to be called jappy

You obviously didn’t read the second to last paragraph
Don’t they have one of these on Masters of Sex?

More than half of these apply to Vermont…

What happened to the top 10?
