Why does a woman flipping her hair, throwing glitter, and shooting a silly video with her sisters give anyone the right to make a judgement on whether or not she should not be taken seriously? I think that’s ridiculous, and says more about the people making those judgements than it does the women in the video. As a female engineer in an industry that’s mostly men I’ll be the first to say that we need more positive and diverse images of women in today’s society. However, that does not mean that we should start putting down videos or images of women as “wrong” or “not sending the correct message”. Stop telling women what they should or should not be doing. I am a systems engineer who was on deans list every semester and was also on the executive board of my sorority. Just because yes, I liked to dress up and flip my hair and throw glitter and craft does not have anything to do with whether or not I should be taken seriously as a student, an engineer nor an individual. And I don’t appreciate society sending the message that the two are mutually exclusive. You can act girly and silly with your friends and that does not give anyone the excuse to be condescending towards you or not take you seriously.
Super proud big moment ❤️ Love you little!
