If somebody proposes on Valentine’s Day, it’s either because they don’t know you well enough so they opt for something generically romantic (i.e., not truly romantic at all) or because they are just unoriginal. Neither of those are good.

I was looking at bid day shirt designs online the other day and was very unhappy to find one that was styled after Ed Hardy. Just…no.

Do you know her ritual to be commenting on it? Some people just don’t leave the house without a little make-up. Get over it.

Deflecting the cost like that really is a great idea. Generally a weight change of 10 lbs is equivalent to 1 dress size, so if your goal weight is a loss of 15 lbs you’ll probably go down a full dress size but a good tailor will easily be able to alter your beautiful dress in a way to show off your new shape while maintaining the integrity of the original style. Good luck on your journey to a healthier you!

PanLAM to you too :) I love that we can joke around about budgets and weight gain being NS but actually support one another and help those who need to economize and slim down when the talk is serious.

Absolutely! There’s no way every sratstar was born with “perfect” genes or a 7+ digit trust fund, but all of us can agree that it’s important to be conscious of our bodies and make healthy decisions now so that we can stay healthy and beautiful and represent our sororities well for the rest of our lives. And everyone has a budget, the only difference is that some are larger than others. But financial planning and using whatever resources you have responsibly are both really important life skills that will help us as true ladies to provide ourselves and our families with a comfortable lifestyle. There’s nothing sratty about living beyond your means.

    PanLove <3!

At the risk of sounding really silly, I was hoping one of you ladies might be able to help me with a dress dilemma… I found this Lilly dress (Dolly in hotty pink) that I absolutely love but it was on sale and there were only two left. One of them fit me perfectly so I bought it but once the thrill of finding such a beautiful dress at a beautiful price wore off, (this is where I’m going to sound dumb) I realized that my goal to slim down by 15 pounds might actually change my dress size. At my goal weight, I wore a dress size 5, and I was just wondering what lilly size you juniors dress 5 ladies wore. I saved $155 on a beautiful dress and am wondering if I shouldn’t just get it taken in later if need be, but my budget is really really GDI, Daddy (and kinda me too) thinks its too dressy for class, and I’m afraid I’m not going to get my investment out of it.

First of all, enjoy it while it fits now. I can’t help on the sizing, but I do have a suggestion. Maybe you can incorporate the dress into your fitness plan. Divide the cost of tailoring by 15 for the amount of weight you want to drop. For each pound you lose, put that sum of money aside to pay for the dress. If you’re losing weight at a healthy rate (~2 lbs. per week) it shouldn’t be too much money at a time. It really is a lovely dress!
