I haven’t read anyone explain why she stayed or came back multiple times other than she loved him. I’m sorry but I’m just struggling to understand why that trumps allowing someone to do something to your body that you didn’t want done multiple times. I say “allowing” because in her story she said she “let him” have sex with her. The point I think some of us are trying to make is that the way this entire story was written, the picture it paints, makes it sound like she had every possibility to stand up and leave but CHOSE not to. It sounds like they had a good enough friendship that had she tried to get up and go he wouldn’t have pushed her down. Do we know if that’s true or not? No. But the way this story is presented sounds more like she regrets “letting” him have sex with her. That’s the struggle I feel a lot of us on here are having.
It’s so hard to form a solid opinion on this one. I just can’t ignore the difference between a woman who has the ability to get up and leave vs. a woman who doesn’t, especially when she is in this situation multiple times. I’m not saying a struggle is required for rape to occur but she literally said “I just laid back and let him have sex with me,” – she let him. On the other hand, I was in a situation where I also didn’t try to put up a struggle to leave in what little moments of clarity I had because I was drugged. But that’s such a stark difference in our experiences… I can so easily see both sides here because I feel that I’ve experienced both sides in some ways. I think there’s something to be said about the difference between rape and sexual coercion. No one is invalidating anyone else’s experience, but if we’re going to have these conversations, especially with young boys and girls, they need to be clear in rhetoric.
I can’t even understand what you are trying to say… maybe proofread before hitting “post” next time. Look at the school newspaper’s website for the real facts. Thankfully they actually waited for more information before reporting, unlike TSM. I truly hope you evaluate some things about yourself before continuing to say things like this because you sound completely ignorant, biased, and judgement on every level.
I really don’t understand why you decided to comment on this article with a complete lie. Yes, that girl was unfortunately hurt terribly bad but if you were actually there then you would know it wasn’t because of any ADPi’s and that’s why their Nationals and police report say so. Whoever did hurt this girl was 100% not an ADPi, a new member, or a pledge. And of course they have taken down their social media, it was all being bombarded with lies like yours.
Actually, there are probably a total of 5 communication and sociology majors combined. Even if there were more how does that make them horrible? Did you even read the article before commenting? It wasn’t at their party, no ADPi’s were having a party, they hold their standards extremely high and educate their new members about those standards. I’m assuming you meant “shouldn’t” have trash at any event, and again it wasn’t an ADPi event. Your uneducated comments are unbecoming.
Thank you!! This is 100% true and the chapter has been getting a lot of crap because of this. The accusations are completely untrue and the facts will be released soon enough. Hopefully hot piece of TSM has enough decency in her reporting to update this article (and change the awful title) when the truth comes out.
Hey TSM and Millertimenow how about you guys stop spreading these lies! There’s a police report that shows absolutely no evidence of any ADPi being involved. Millertimenow do not blatantly lie about something just because you have a vendetta against them. If you were truly planning on rushing that chapter in the spring then you would know how false these allegations are because absolutely none of those girls would do this and they uphold their chapter’s values more than any other sorority on that campus!
Not in a sorority? You’re right, I’m sure any GDI in a cop car would specifically ask to go down Greek Row with sirens and refers to friends as “sisters.” And there’s a difference between letting an org dictate your life and letting it help you become the best version of yourself – I guess the best version of herself is using her body to get out of a sticky situation.
So you got in trouble for being slutty? And wanted to draw even more attention to it with sirens on Greek Row? Sounds like you take representing your sorority in a classy way very seriously! Hopefully you weren’t wearing your letters…
I’ve heard of this theme many times from many different sororities and different schools. Why is this particular chapter getting bashed for it? I’m pretty sure when planning this event nobody said “let’s dress like poor people for fun!” The theme was rags which is up for interpretation. Sure, some may have made some offensive outfit choices that appear to represent homeless but I don’t think that was ever the intention of the event. Find something more worthwhile to complain about – comparing cancer patients and homeless people is not a fair argument.

Soooo at what point did they say “fucking asses” ? Very misleading title to this article.

A lot of these can be applied to other hair colors as well, not just blondes….
