“She’ll generate tons of hate from people like yourself.” Oh please..How am I now anti-transgender all of the sudden? I’m actually the opposite. TRUE acceptance is apathy. No one seems to get that. ESPN spent ungodly amounts of time following Michael Sam around before and after the draft, and once he was drafted, they followed him to training camp and spent every day giving us the update on how Michael Sam was doing, all because he’s gay. It had nothing to do with football, or him as a person. ESPN sat there and pretended to be supportive by telling us “wow, this is so great for the gay community. What an inspiration” and praising the guy all day long. To me, that doesn’t sound like acceptance at all. That sound like the opposite. How would you like to try to make a professional football team and everyday after practice ESPN sticks a mic in your face and reminds you that you’re a gay football player. True acceptance is treating someone like a regular person and that includes not talking about their differences all day whether it’s negative or positive. I just disagree with this particular award going to someone whose adversity is nothing more than a social issue. And I can’t help but believe ESPN did this strictly for the money, which is my biggest issue.

You’re right, BasedSrat. Everyone is beautiful and courageous and life is all puppies and rainbows with nobody being classified above or below anyone for any reason under any circumstance. Michael Sam is equally as courageous as someone beating cancer twice or being locked up in a prison for 27 years for fighting racism and leading an activist group in dismantling the apartheid. This year’s award is a complete money stunt and if you view it as anything else, you’re delusional. You don’t think ESPN jumped on the chance to reveal “Caitlyn” to the public on their network for the first time ever? ESPN is gonna triple their viewership for the ESPY’s by collecting viewers completely uninterested in sports who just wanna hear “Caitlyn” speak for the first time. It’s a shame they sold out and elected to water down the award for ratings and $$$$$$$$.

I disagree completely. “Caitlyn” Jenner now has the privilege sharing the same award that major icons in recent years like Nelson Mandela, Robin Roberts and Pat Summit have won for the courage they’ve shown in batting through incredibly weakening physical times while facing death. This year and last year we’ve have a gay male(Michael Sam), and a male turned female, and they’ve won it by fighting to achieve personal and social acceptance. Nothing exactly life threatening. When you really think about it, nobody actually gives a shit about Michael Sam being gay or Bruce Jenner being female, but they same can’t be said about Roberts, Mandela, or Summit, or literally every other hero on the list. ESPN is going in the WRONG direction with this. Fuck the social issues. Last year Michael Sam won it and not a single person involved in the Boston bombings was considered yet we have followed each victim through they’re entire brutal recovery post attack. Nothing for them? Just a below average gay football player to take their place. Now we get a multi-millionaire reality TV superstar who decided to become a chick and we just throw his story in there alongside someone like Nelson Mandela? Fuck that shit. ESPN continues to trend toward being the TMZ of sports.

Your diversity club doesn’t understand the concept of greek life. They see a social club made up of 95% white girls and think this “club” is created for white girls specifically. The protesters are the ones seeing race and only race. A sorority is a just a group of girls with common interest, so yes, these organization tend to have a large collection of very similar people, but that’s why there are plenty of houses to choose from and there’s one for everyone. But that’s all it is. Common interest. The diversity club doesn’t understand that because they didn’t rush, and they didn’t rush because they assumed sororities are just a private club created exclusively for white girls. The diversity club might as well form a house. They share the same ideas and perspective(acting oppressed and running around playing victim with their free time).

  • Tuco_1855 9 years ago on Do These Sketches Found At LP Headquarters Prove That Lilly Pulitzer Hates Fat People?

The only reason this is news is because there are drawings and the only reason for the drawings is because the staff member who drew these is a pretty good artist. If there was a post-it note on the fridge saying in writing, “Hey Carb face, put it down, you hideous, white, fatty!” no one would really give a shit, would they? I think the artist here is drawing these in a somewhat light-hearted fashion here because those drawings are kind of funny. But again, you can’t poke fun at anyone anymore, not even yourself. You gotta laugh at the twitter comments about never buying Lily again, and the need to boycott the company. Get over it, you psychopaths.

It’s honestly not a surprise that the most of the page members have nothing to do with UW. Now days there are full-time freelance protesters ready to take to the streets at anytime for any reason. These people find comfort in the act of protesting because it helps them convince themselves that they’re not at fault for their own shitty life. The empowerment of “having a voice” is something that helps them feel better as well, so they like to use it whenever possible.
The best thing UW could do to combat this protest is to get everyone out on their lawn hanging out and playing music, and completely drown out and ignore the protesters. If you communicate with them or fight back, you’re playing into their hand, and if you stay inside and ignore them all together, the cameras and news reports and shit will all be on them, which is also what they want. Out number them outside, drown them out, and completely ignore them right in their face and they’ll get really upset that they are not the center of attention.

  • Tuco_1855 9 years ago on 16 Times That Size Actually DOES Matter

We’re literally talking about size. What “deep” take on this were you looking for UCFbuzzkill?

The size of your philanthropy? ..and why raising money is important
The size of a guy’s heart? ..followed by a sappy paragraph about his unconditional love for you.

Would these make you feel better? More uplifted?

All I got out of this article is that your are undatable. If you have that much detailed interior monologue and emotion toward doing the most menial and normal task, you’re a psychopath. As a postgrad now, I’ll stop in at the bar to grab a beer right after work, I will join 15-20 others both male and female who are also grabbing a drink after work, ALL ALONE. This is a very common thing to happen. You’re crazy, lady.
