I have a disagree. Women have always been taught that we’re not supposed to like sex and we should hide our sexuality. What this article says is don’t be ashamed of your sexuality and enjoy your sex life, but don’t let it affect your relationship with others or make you lose respect for yourself. You do you girl

my school had a very small Greek system and anyone was welcome to go through recruitment, even if they were older. We’ve given bids out to juniors before if the bond was strong enough and we felt that they would benefit from being in our chapter, and that the chapter would benefit from them. Don’t give up if its something you really want! And if it is too late to rush, find another organization on campus that will allow you to get involved and make friends 🙂

you must have missed this entire paragraph…If she were to talk about everything else that a sorority girl is other than the stereotypes, she’d have to write a book, not just a TSM article.

“Because while I’m the ‘Yes Girl’ to all of that, I’m also the ‘Yes Girl’ to so much more. Yes, I’m the girl who studies hard and goes to class to learn. Yes, I’m the girl who spends Sunday afternoons in the library and has missed a night out at bars because of a test the next day. Yes, I’m the girl who gives dollars to the homeless and who cries during animal shelter commercials. Yes, I’m the girl who goes to church, or temple, or mosque. I’m the girl who picks up a tabloid at the grocery store and reads it while watching The Sean Hannity Show. I’m the girl who volunteers with children for my sorority and who volunteers for political campaigns for my country. I’m the girl who takes pride in what I do, be it school, work, or relationships. I’m the girl who knows the difference between right and wrong and I’m the girl who would sooner die than hurt someone I care about. I’m the girl who doesn’t deserve to be judged by you.”

thank you! I swear Ana has some kind of multiple personality disorder. I only read the first one and I could barely get through it. Its basically Girl meets boy, girl falls in love with boy, girl has sex with boy (for about 22 chapters) then girl and boy break up.

It’s Twilight all over again, but vampires are replaces with BDSM.

why are people getting so upset about this article? Half of the TSM’s that are posted are the stereotypical things about getting a MRS degree and finding a husband to support us while we drink wine and bake for the rest of our lives…

How do such big chapters get to know everyone?
My chapter is much smaller (we have about 40 girls) but I know everyone personally and I can honestly say I am close with almost all of them.

Good for you, I never said you don’t help people here. I also never said that my chapter only raises money for our community, so I’m not sure where you are getting your facts from. My sorority, which is in fact a social organization, donates time and money to our national philanthropies, as well as many others that you have probably worked with too.
I was simply saying that MOST people do not try to help, and even some Greeks do not do above the requirements. I’m glad you do.
My point is just that if people want to complain about the problems we have in our own country, then they need to go out and do something to try to fix them.

Funny. My chapter does the most philanthropy on our campus.
Do you do anything else outside of the requirements? As Greeks we have a lot of influence and we have the ability to make people aware of different issues. I agree we need to fix things in our own country, I’m just saying that people need to pick a cause they care about and really work to fix it.

Let me ask you a question…do you help less fortunate kids in America? I agree there are issues in our own country that need solving, but someone needs to start it. If there are issues in this country that you care about then spread the word, you will find others who care too and it will start a movement just like this one. It only takes one person to start it. I’ve seen so many people making comments that we need to fix our own problems first and that is what they are more concerned about, yet they don’t actually do anything to solve those issues.

If Kony is not in custody then the situation is not over. Remember that thing called justice that is a major virtue of our country?
And I disagree, I think it did require a large social movement. Regardless of whether or not Kony is still committing these acts, 99% of the people in the world had NO IDEA who he is or what he has been doing. That’s just sad. Kony is also not the only man that is doing things like this, it happens all over the world. Whether you support this cause or not you can’t deny that it made you more aware of a WORLD issue. and when I say world, that includes the United States.

He hasn’t been “done” for 3 years…this has been going on for 26 years and Kony has moved into other countries. He may not be in Uganda anymore but he is still active. Besides, even if he had stopped kidnapping and killing children, he should have to pay for the things he has done in the past.
Also, if organizations didn’t spend money on making videos and marketing, no one would know about the issue. Would you have know about it if you hadn’t seen that video? There were many people concerned beforehand, but there needed to be a large scale social movement to make more people aware of the situation.
