I think what she meant by “normal” was more so a way of referring to them being on the thinner side. Badly worded for sure. Should have brought their bodies into it.
LOVE THIS. I get this from friends more so than family, but “You’re too pretty to not have a boyfriend!” still irks my soul to high hell. What is it s out society that ppl think that something’s wrong with a single woman? Ugh.
She’s totally a feminist though lol There are (like in any movement) more radical viewpoints, but anyone who believes in equality and empowerment for women in a patriarchal society has feminist views, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Posting nude selfies? Kim, you were “free the nipple” before the “free the nipple” folks were lol
Usually ppl feel bad in these situations because they assume that once you decide to choose a healthier lifestyle you’ll look down on theirs. Ignore them and keep it up! I’m paleo too (Diabetes runs in the fam) and I’ve never felt or looked better!
PS, Chipotle’s paleo friendly when you get the the salads so u don’t have to give it up completely! Chipotle can still be life lol
Lucky Jo, I love you but, this was one of the most ignorantly written and close-minded articles I have read in a long time. Please do not equate being a sorority woman (which I am as well) with the struggles of being a person of color (which I also am). I am disgusted.
Hit me right in the heart. I’ll always have love for her. The way she took me for granted during such a hard time in my life, however, taught me a lot of hard lessons about people and appreciating myself even when others don’t. The hardest lessons are learned when the people we love the most hurt us the worst sometimes, unfortunately. I’ll always be thankful for the memories though. Always, always, always.
I’m African American and in pan, but grew up learning all about the nphc/D9 orgs. I can assure any and everyone there is no D9 org (sorority or fraternity) with a symbol even close to that. lol Like, at all. Not sure where in the world Sigma Kappa got that idea from.
It doesn’t make this okay though. Greek life does get harshly judged in the eyes of the media and non-greeks entirely too much. BUT, as in this situation, we very often contribute to that and then defend the bad decisions that warranted that judgement. This has nothing to do with feminism gone too far, at all. This sounded way too much like the older tsm articles where things like what this chapter did were practically encouraged.
Love that said this, yes greek life gets the short end of the stick in the media way too much, but a large portion of the time we contribute to it as well.
The point of the article is that if you’re getting married for any reason other than love grown out of a mature and healthy relationship, don’t get married. Take a chill pill people.
I totally get the article, I just think that the point should be that not everyone is beautiful to everybody else. Beauty is about perception more than anything, especially when you throw in different cultures and their own standards of beauty, because even blonde haired, blue eyed Marissa can be “ugly” to someone, believe it or not. But are we as a society completely over obsessed with the idea of it all in the first place? Definitely agree with you with a resounding yes on that one.
Bless you for saying this.

It also has to do with genetics. I got mine at 10 and so did my mom. We were both normal weight though. Periods are weird lol

Not sure how she downed any other sorority at all?

SNAPS !!!! As I said before, we as greeks do get judged fairly entirely too much, when we do things like this we don’t exactly make it any better.
Amen girl! AMEN. Class will never go out of style.

Perfect response.
