I’ve dealt with this a few times. I have many guy friends but I always make sure to back off when they have a girlfriend. Sometimes I’ll try to befriend the girl and find out if she’s okay with our friendship continuing, but I still back off as much as the situation deems necessary.
And so far with my boyfriend now, every time I’ve noticed a female friend getting a little too friendly, I’ve told him, “just watch, she’s trying to get with you.” And after several arguments, the truth reveals itself, and I’ve been right every time.
At first I wanted to downvote, but then I read this again. I realized this is true. It’s painfully true.
What I get from this video is, “you do you. You’ll never make everyone love you. So decide who matters and who doesn’t.”
It’s also supposed to point out the problem with idiots behind the screen on social media. But you’re right, some of this stuff will never change. And there’s nothing we can do.
That second to last statement tho. And because it’s so easy to get into teaching, we have a lot of shitty teachers who could care less about their students, and we wind up with students who don’t learn much.
Case and point: My dyslexic little sister. She’s got a 504 and supposed to receive special help when it comes to reading-related things, but teachers are too lazy (and well over half of them are too undertrained) to deal with this sort of situation.
It shouldn’t be easy to be an educator, and it should DEFINITELY not be valued less.
God I feel this so hard. It’s even worse when your parents decide you shouldn’t have an LDR at all in college and think the best solution is to keep you away from him even when you’re in the same town.
But that’s irrelevant. This is a fantastic article, and I can relate so well.
Ah yes, another article about how the thing that has brought so many people long-term happiness is somehow “the wrong thing to do.”
TSM is slowly becoming less of an actual interesting site with interesting stands on certain relevant news topics and real-life issues for Greeks, and more of a “how to be the worst you can possibly be so you have something to regret in your 30’s” guide.
Absolutely NOTHING wrong with doing something a little different – within reason – to please your partner, whether you’re male or female pleasing a male or female. Love the column. Time for some people to get off their high horses.
Words of wisdom. I’m also glad to see so many others agreeing because really I was beginning to wonder if I was just royally missing out on some crucial detail that the rest of the world saw. Great that she’s successful, I’m sure she’s a nice person, but I am just NOT a fan.
Really, really hoping this is just satire because…. Well. You’re so negative. I can’t imagine life is very fun when you look at things in such a way. Surely you’re joking
Chirag, this is possibly the most pathetic train of thought I have ever had the displeasure of reading. So glad I don’t have to deal with your strange, backwards way of thinking in real life. I feel pity for those that do. They deserve a reward for having put up with such a skewed world view thus far. I can only hope and pray for you to one day find someone who can help you work through some obviously very painful issues buried deep within your soul, and maybe you will emerge a much happier person, who has a better self-esteem and doesn’t feel the need to fight his supposed friend’s battles for him and doesn’t try to add to situations that already seem to be very painful for those who are actually directly involved.
I think you need to escort yourself out of the situation, as you are doing nothing to help and it is very clear to everyone that your goal is to cause harm.
My ex and I broke up because he also treated me like crap. Wanted me to FaceTime him every moment of the day. Never wanted me to go out and do anything (which is double bullshit because I rarely ever drink, and never when I go out), but if he was out I had better be understanding.
Ironic twist of fate, while he was out at a party he got shitfaced and cheated. Funny how things like that happen.
To me, it sounds like it’s time to leave this joker in the dirt. If I were you I would have dumped him the moment he found it appropriate to feel me up in front of his friends. Flat out, he’s too confident that he’s got you wrapped around his finger and is now trying to control you. You’re stronger than that.
Get out, girl. It’ll be hard at first – take it from someone who had an actual breakdown shortly after she dumped her boyfriend. But you can and will move on from it and find better. You’re more than just a pretty face, and it’s time for you to find someone who treats you in such a way.
LOL meanwhile I do all the work my car requires (which isn’t much cause it’s new, but still) and I could walk you through just about every little thing about it. I’m part of a large group that’s solely focused on cars, and I’m teaching my best friend in my sorority everything about her car that I can. But yeah, we sorority girls don’t know much about the ins and outs of automotive tech. *hair flip emoji*
Gotta agree with this article. Not much you can do to change the mass mind, just do you. Eventually, people will see the truth about who you are.
I’ve noticed that fact checking doesn’t seem to be high on the TSM checklist anymore. They often just wait for someone to comment corrections for them. I guess some quick research would take just too much time.

Looks like it’s time to stock up on my favorite flavor of ice cream

Straightforward and ON. POINT. Especially that last statement.

I cannot stop laughing. This is beautiful.
This is art.
Okay but consider this: Who cares

Well that was a waste of a read.
I don’t know why this is so downvoted, because AMEN. I’ll go out in style ~
