ShutUpAndRead is a mass communications major from a small school in South Carolina that you've probably never heard of. She enjoys reading, long walks on the beach, and judging the Twitterverse. When she's not busy watching videos of sloths or babies dancing to pop music, she can be found pretending to be a princess and working diligently on her MRS degree.
Excuse me, but if you were to actually READ the article, she doesn’t say anything different than exactly what she said about the perpetrators at your school. It isn’t biased at all. She applauded the head of your school for acting quickly, the same way she did the heads of Chi Omega.
It seems to me that all of you girls are doing a lot of protesting her writing rather than focusing on the real problem here. Stop trying to take the attention off of the horrible thing that happened at your school. Maybe if you ladies stopped taking the time to create TSM profiles to insult and argue over the article and instead used that time to look inward at the obvious racial and social problems within your school (facts that I’m getting from a commenter that says she goes there and witnesses bullying and racial decision frequently) this problem could be solved and everyone would stop focusing on your school in this negative way.
I feel like you’re all focusing on her writing and not on the actual event. What happened at your school is most definitely an atrocity, and she’s done nothing but report on it. Stop attacking her and focus on the problems within your school that caused this to happen to begin with.
Also, calling them “black pearls” isn’t equality. It’s still separating them from the rest of your population.
Since when did it become acceptable to tell someone that they “look like they have down syndrome”? Down syndrome is NOT an insult, honey. And why are we attacking “From Rush to Rehab” anyway? For posting a very well-written article about an important issue that’s STILL relevant in today’s society? You’re disgusting.
Also, I did really care about her. Like I said, she was my best friend. I didn’t write this to hurt her. I doubt she’ll ever even read it. I’m not trying to get back into her life. I’m trying to help other girls who get hurt like I did. I don’t care if she’s not hurting over me. That’s fine. Truthfully, I don’t care about her very much at all anymore. It was just an idea for a column that I wrote and then submitted on the blind hope that I might get it published, and it worked. If you don’t like it, good. Controversy is great for aspiring writers. Being talked about makes us look great.
But once again, I’m glad you read it! Thanks!

But the same author wrote an article on the racist snapchat that came out from a sorority like a week or two ago.

AMEN. It’s about time someone said this. I’m tired of hearing about how we’re all vapid whores.
