You’re not a bad feminist, you’re a feminist, period. Feminism isn’t a shape. It’s a belief, not a set of behaviors (unless those behaviors contradict the beliefs.) You’re saying that you learned (like lots of us did, me too definitely!) that feminists are not man-hating non-shaving monsters and yet you still feel the need to set yourself apart from that? There are feminists who shave their legs and feminists who don’t; there are women who seek male attention who consider themselves feminists and similar women who don’t. YOU are not the bad feminist. The folks who say you can’t be a feminist because of what you like and how you act, they are the bad feminists.

Think about it like this. When you go on your junk food ‘diet’, which is cheaper, easier and more fun than a traditional one, and you ‘fail’ to gain weight, you go back to being normal. When I try the who-knows-what-number, diet/cleans whatever as I’ve done most summers since I was about 14, and I fail, I’m actually a failure.

Obviously no one should make you feel bad about your body but if you think three songs in one summer is a war, you have no idea what it’s like to feel wrong and imperfect your entire life. Sweet va breeze is right – someone or several someones putting you down is not the same as systematic, media-enforced shaming.
