Because one could cost you a job. Or a scholarship. Or admittance to college. Or your actual life. The other is a vague bristling annoyance. Do not try to compare the idea that someone supporting racist comments being called privileged to actual institutionalized racism.
So the stereotype that we (as white people) are privileged is somehow worse, or even on par, with the ways that POC have been stereotyped against? That’s silly. People are calling this article out because it was handled poorly, is tone deaf, and doesn’t actually suggest anything to the alternative of what’s happening. White people do have privilege. And despite what you might believe, it is much easier in this world to be white than to be any other color. We sit at the top of the power hierarchy. That’s also why reverse racism doesn’t make sense. Racism is institutional, and much more serious than you seem willing to admit. It isn’t just about the students yelling racial slurs, it’s also about the school that allowed it to happen for years and years.
They forced him to resign because there was an overwhelming show of support from students to the claims that he wasn’t doing his job. That’s a valid reason to do so. If he had actually been performing admirably, the movement would not have taken off in the way that it did. The football team threatened not to play, and had the support of Gary Pinkel. This could have cost the school a million dollars and cost Pinkel his job. The fact that they were willing to take this stand shows that this grad student wasn’t the only person who felt that way. And while it’s easy to say that we could just change the system around him, it’s much harder to enact. It is harder to force a man to treat his students with equal value when he has shown that it is not his priority than to find someone who is also qualified, and wants to make the learning environment better for his students. Also, just because the people that you know think that doesn’t mean that it’s true. It just shows the opinion of your general friend group.
I don’t think that’s really the problem. If a student feels so segregated that they have to identify themselves as ‘______’ mizzou, then it seems much more likely that it’s the fault of the system that makes them feel as if they are so inherently other. It might not be the fault of this man, specifically, but the fault of the system in which he is complicit. And if it’s truly the case that mizzou has had a long history of racism (which, yeah, I’ve heard that a lot), then this president had the opportunity to create positive change when he was appointed and has chosen not to.
Honestly, I’m kind of psyched to see guys adopting intricate hairstyles. Now they’ll stop fucking asking me why it takes so long to do my hair every day.
This isn’t body shaming the other girls, guys. She is t saying that the other girls are inherently less important or less deserving or in any way worse. All that this article is doing is calling attention to an awesome candidate that doesn’t look like a stereotypical homecoming queen and how well that girl handled a situation. None of that should be upsetting to you.
7. He doesn’t think being friends with you for years is something he had to ‘endure.’ He enjoyed being friends with you because he saw you as an interesting person that he wanted in his life, not an object that he needed to put in his time with until he could upgrade to sex.
That’s cool and all for you, but the fact that you would be willing to get up and walk away doesn’t mean everyone else would. If that were the case, hazing never would have become a thing in the first place.
Wait… I’m really confused. I’m pretty damn liberal and all for moving past negative stereotypes. But I can’t for the life of me figure out how the GDI stereotype is negative to women.
The thing about this is that there were so many different poses they could pull from the video. It didn’t have to be this one. Hell, they could have just had her standing in a superman-esque pose. There’s no way that out of the whole team involved in creating this, not one of them considered the possibility that this might happen.

Hey that’s neat, should we all just take your word on it? And even IF that’s true, that doesn’t mean that racism is a problem.

I feel like they really missed the chance to say that John Stamos is so tall and handsome as hell
Especially since you guys could theoretically both take them at the same time. Fill the gun with blanks, then wear a bulletproof vest just in case.
$hould anyone be curiou$ a$ to why $he i$ bringing it back, I think it’$ fairly $imple to under$tand
This article is kind of ironic considering how often you guys complain that the world gets too offended now.

This took a turn in a wonderful direction

Was I the only one disappointed when Ariel lipstick wasn’t bright red?
idk I don’t know whether you should take advise on how to deal with race relations from someone rocking white girl dreads
Ladies take a moment to send a thank you text to your moms for not being this woman
