Also, it wasn’t about ‘limiting free speech.’ It isn’t allowed in an elementary school, because it constitutes as bullying. That’s the prerogative of the school system. It also is t the first thing that has been banned from schools for being hurtful to other students. I really don’t understand what kind of person has a problem with making it harder to bully children?
I understand where you’re coming from, but that is unfortunately not how the world works. If a number of serious allegations are brought up against major Greek organizations/members over the course of a week, then we should absolutely talk about that. Rather than covering our ears to the bad and only boasting the good(which it could be argued is what has been the general go to for a long time) expose the bad seeds and show that we are better than this.
I just don’t understand how one person could be so incredibly bitter about engagements and marriages like??? Are there any circumstances that you actually DO like? Because all I’ve seen so far is you shitting on people who just want to start a life together. These guys aren’t proposing to you, just take a breath. Consider the fact that people are allowed to have opinions that are different than yours. It’ll all be okay.
You’re looking at it as if you’re the one who gets to see the ‘real’ him. Everyone else has to look at this asshole facade that he’s created. But the truth is that these are both very real aspects of who your boyfriend is as a person. It’s great that he treats you well, it really is. But it honestly doesn’t speak to his character. A man who would yell a slur (probably not very jokingly, seeing as he was kicked out) at a worker because they messed up his tacos does not sound like a good man. As Sirius Black once said, “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” The fact that he actually said to you that he didn’t want you to see what he’s like in class means that he is very aware that his behavior is unacceptable, but just doesn’t care enough to change it. There is a difference between not wanting to give up your dignity, and just wanting to be an asshole without any repercussions.
I’m torn about this. On the one hand, I deeply appreciate a class in which students are allowed to ask whatever questions they wish without fear of being criticized or judged. I think nothing is as vital to development as knowledge and any place that gives answers is useful. But on the other hand, I don’t think there’s any reason that he should be calling his students homophobic slurs or any such derogatory names. There is an imbalance of power that exists when a teacher can use words like that against their students but anyone retaliating in kind could face disciplinary action. Further, most universities require teachers to speak to their students in a semi-respectful manner, and having your students sign away their protection from slurs seems shitty at best. A truly open conversation can’t be held in a place where a teacher holds this much power over their students, and students might hold back their questions for fear of being mocked. This goes against the entire purpose of having such a waiver in the first place. While I have no problem with free exchange of ideals and beliefs, I don’t really think that such a discussion could really occur under these conditions.
Ah see, there it is. Someone using the instance of falsified rape to detract from the reality that is a disgusting and very prevalent part of our culture. Great.
You know what I hate about this, even more than the shadow that it cast on Greek life? ( don’t get me wrong because that also makes my blood boil)
The next time that a girl comes forward with something absolutely awful that happened to her, possibly the worst thing in her life, this will be in people’s minds. The time that one crazy girl lied about it and ruined the reputations of random people just to further her absurd romantic agendas. A woman who has experienced real trauma will be ignored or brushed off because of this. How dare jackie trivialize such a horrible experience? How dare she cast doubt upon the very real epidemic of rape? Women who have already suffered deserve justice and support, and this nut job has just made it that much more difficult for them to get it.
Because actually getting your rapist behind bars is such a monumentally difficult thing to do. Rape is remarkably difficult to prove, and sometimes a woman doesn’t want to have to go through an incredibly traumatic experience like a trial. Sometimes, they just want to be able to move past it and feel like they can sleep again at night, knowing that they aren’t going to have to run into their rapist in class.
Literally, that’s what I’m saying. There is a good chance that you are right. So… What? Does that mean that his efforts to help people who are being marginalized don’t count? He is using his privilege to help people that would be at more risk doing a hunger strike due to lack of private healthcare.
OMG his family is rich!!!! So he is completely exempt from racism always. Do you know what this kid was doing? He was using his privilege (money) to fight for people who didn’t have his access to a platform. That is what people with privilege ought to do! Maybe he wouldn’t have done the huger strike (which was not self indulgent) without access to his wealthcare. That is an excellent example of exactly what POC are asking of white people! Start using OUR privilege (race) to help those who don’t have access to it.
Do you want ants? Because this is how you get ants

Like what a rude and shitty thing to say about a girl who is already facing a lot right now.
Honestly fuck you though
Her management said that she wasn’t asked about it.

Exactly what I was thinking
Great example of her using her super powers for good instead of evil
