Yes this! Under Obamacare it’s illegal for your insurance not to cover generic forms of birth control so the majority of insured women should be getting it for free! (Which saves everyone money cus the cost of birth control is way cheaper for insurance companies than childbirth costs) definitely check with your insurer !
I got mirena recently (like three weeks ago) and have had random light cramping and spotting. The pain to get it was way worse for
me than described here though. Before they place it they measure your uterus which hurts like a long really painful period cramp and then the placement is the same type of pain but not as bad. I was lightheaded and had to drink juice and lie down for a few minutes before leaving, but I felt ok pretty quickly. Number one advice for anyone considering it is take the day off work and bring a friend or family member with you for moral support and to drive you home! It’s definitely a great option that more women should take advantage of
Not to mention the fact that they turned someone who attempted to rape two girls in the first episode into the romantic lead…always rubbed me the wrong way
The post office is a branch of the federal government, not simply an organization that receives federal funding. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
As far as endorsing and donating to candidates, many non-profits operate under multiple designations in order for them to do advocacy while still maintaining non-profit status. Planned Parenthood Federation of America receives federal funding and provides health care for all women, especially low income and uninsured women with nowhere else to turn. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the branch of the organization specifically for advocacy. As far as donations, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund Political Action Committee (PAC) is the branch that actually donates to and endorses candidates.I can guarantee there are laws regarding where the federal dollars are allowed to go and where they aren’t. It’s not like all the funding goes into one giant account and they reach into it for everything they do.
It also should be included in here that because of the Hyde Amendment, it’s already illegal to put federal funds towards abortion services (even thought it is a common, safe, and legal medical procedure), so cutting off federal funding for planned parenthood will not impact its abortion services. The Senate basically voted to stop pap smears and mammograms.
Thank you for posting this!! Funny how everyone applauded the conservative leaning article about Mizzou, but when they post something like this it’s “TSM should stay out of politics!” News Flash: politics affect every single person in this country. They’re important. We should be paying attention.
The fact that you complain about sorority women being called bimbos in an article that reeks of white privilege and ignorance is quite ironic. I’m very proud to be a sorority woman, and it’s things like this that hurt our cause. Blaming the students of color for the racial climate at Mizzou is absurd when they have been the victims of racial slurs and threats all year and are now protesting to have something be done about it. The situation was already there, white students where just privileged enough to remain ignorant of it until now.
They most likely had to say all of that stuff for risk management purposes. I’m not in chi o but I’m social chair for a different sorority and we have to make sure nobody leaves early because of liability purposes. It’s better to say it all ahead of time as opposed to waiting until guys already agreed to come and then surprising them with it
Why doesn’t the non-Greek woman check her facts before bashing Greek life on national television? Harvard absolutely has fraternities and sororities as well as final clubs
^this, and to add a bit, the language of “push guys into forcing you to have sex” is messed up on SO many levels. Unless they have a gun to their head, a rapist is never ever ever “pushed” into raping someone. It is a conscious choice that they make to violate someone.
An important part of changing the culture of “making him work for it” is stopping cultural behavior that shames women who don’t say no when they don’t mean it. Many women are scared to be labeled as “easy” or a “slut” because they say yes, so they say no when they don’t want to.
Exactly. It’s been demonstrated that as fields that were traditionally male (librarians and nursing for example) have become female dominated, the average pay for those jobs compared to other still make-dominated fields actually decreases.
The problem is that oftentimes, students who know they are guilty will transfer during the investigation, and it essentially disappears. They can then go on to commit more assaults at the next school. The suspect in the Hannah Graham case did this twice. Noting “withdrew with conduct charges pending” doesn’t say anything that isn’t true. It doesn’t say they’re guilty and it doesn’t say they’re not, it just states the situation. It allows the school considering accepting the student to look at the details and make an informed decision
Underage drinking occurs at every university in America besides BYU, even those without Greek life, and it is openly acknowledged by many that the drinking age in the United States is sort of unrealistic and ridiculous, but the minute it happens at a fraternity it’s some sort of serious crime.
Also “unregistered party” as an infraction just speaks to the piles of regulations already heaped on Greek Life that GDIs don’t have to deal with.
This is terrible but before everyone freaks out: The key in this story is that she had just started taking them. Women who have been taking birth control pills for years and do not smoke cigarettes are fine
Not really sure why the “student leadership” considers hoop skirts exclusively southern when they were worn in the northern states as well as in European countries. Classic case of sweeping judgements involving greek life being passed without any research whatsoever.
It’s not what the stereotypes are though. It’s how they’re meant. It’s not “they’re rich” that’s spiteful it’s the “They’re rich and hate everyone who isn’t”. It’s not “they party” that’s the problem it’s the “partying is all they do and all Greek Life is about.”

The ending is everything
Yeah pretty fucked that he was so into his own satisfaction that he didn’t care that his partner didn’t actually want to do it….

If it’s a symbol of southern pride how do you explain Northerners who display it as well? (I have seen a lot of this in rural areas of upstate NY)
