ShutUpAndRead is a mass communications major from a small school in South Carolina that you've probably never heard of. She enjoys reading, long walks on the beach, and judging the Twitterverse. When she's not busy watching videos of sloths or babies dancing to pop music, she can be found pretending to be a princess and working diligently on her MRS degree.
Doesn’t the title say “nationals denies allegations”? And, you know, “allegedly”? Technically she didn’t say anything was true or false. She just reported what she knew at the time.
Growing up in a baptist church, I was taught that homosexuality is wrong no matter what. “Love the sinner, hate the sin,” right? Except when I got older, I realized that even if we were “loving the sinner,” we were still discriminating against them by not allowing them the same rights that every straight person in America has. I just can’t think of gay marriage as a moral issue because it honestly doesn’t matter if you think homosexuality is right or wrong. It’s about wanting equality for every person in America.
My twin (because my chapter didn’t have bigs/littles when I went through) battled depression all of first semester last year, and no one, not even me, knew. Depression is an invisible, extremely dangerous illness. It’s so, so important to reach out to our sisters that are struggling with it, to let them know that they aren’t alone.
So, you feel really good about yourself because you hang out on a sorority website downing college women for being a little insecure? You’re not overcompensating at all…
Hi can we please stop using the words “skinny bitch” because that’s what I was actually talking about in the article, and is really offensive. Thank you! 🙂
Hi, I wrote the article, and I’m sorry you feel I need to “shut the fuck up”, but there are a LOT of girls who feel like I do about this. You want to talk about the media saying you’re unattractive? I was on twitter the other day and saw a picture that said “men like girls with curves not the bodies of a 12 year old boy!!” Now please, please, PLEASE tell me how that’s not hurtful or not supposed to be offensive. Somehow, it has become okay to tell skinny girls they’re too small, but you know if someone said a curvy girl is too big, EVERYONE would come down on them.
I’ve lived my entire life bein made fun of because I’m too small. Because I didn’t grow boobs when the other girls did. Because my butt is little. Because I’m not curvy. You don’t think that takes a toll? You don’t think that hurts? You don’t think that I’m offended when people go around singing “f*ck skinny bitches”? I am. If it’s not okay to down bigger girls in a song, it’s not okay to put down smaller ones either.
Hey, I didn’t write this so you could come and shame bigger girls! There is NOTHING wrong with them at all. The whole point I was trying to make is that body shaming ANYONE is wrong.
Even if the remarks are fueled by jealousy, it’s just as negative to be told you’re too small. I had more than one guy tell me that he wouldn’t go out with me because my boobs were too small, or my butt was too small, and yeah, I cried too. I cried and I tried my best to get bigger.
And as for Anaconda, my problem with that song lies in “he don’t like ‘me boney he want somethin’ he can grab” which insinuates that men find smaller women unattractive, and that whole “f*ck skinny bitches” part at the end. That’s not cool either.
But it is the same. It’s just as psychologically and emotionally damaging to constantly be told you look like a child, to go eat a burger, asked if you’re anorexic, or to just plain be called too skinny.
But she clearly says that boys want something more to hold at night, indicating that a skinny body is unattractive. It’s not that only skinny people get to be proud of their bodies, it’s that NO ONE, skinny or curvy, should be told that their body is unattractive.
I wonder if you guys ever get tired of trolling around a website meant for collegiate women.

My problem was that you can’t get a CWP until you’re 21 where I live, and I was only 20 when it happened.

I’m pretty sure it’s the Devil, in app form.
It’s a company called “Phired up!” They’re great!
You’re an angry man.

My bad, the first one. I get the second one all day every day. Guess I’m just lucky, huh?
….I have both. Actually, I have the second one 3 to 5 times a day, soooooo…
My boyfriend literally does everything on the list AND is extremely exciting. There’s always room for both excitement and romance.

Really? When is the last time you heard a song say, “it’s okay that your butt is flat and boobs are small”?

There is a way to be body positive to EVERYONE.

But there ARE songs that directly focus on uplifting ALL women. Does no one remember “who says” by Selena Gomez?
